These images represent waking dreams as outside
noise wakes the picture, and returns it to its daytime functioning.
Thus the dreaming is more "utilitarian", constructed from images
taken in Issy’s Friday afternoon market.
The series is made up of photographs of foodstuffs on sale in the various
market stalls, and the hands of clients and shopkeepers with the transfer
of currency between the two. They symbolise the return to daytime activity,
life's cares, the effacement of more tranquil dreams of deeper sleep. The
effect of such close-ups reinforces the troubled nature of morning dreams.
