Four Corners

Come evening, I go up the southern side of the valley. I put camera and tripod in a flowery field, facing the Anisclo Canyon, with Monte Perdido far beyond. I am a short way from the village of Vio.

Here I have found the south-eastern corner of the work, companion to Hoz de Jaca to the south-west, photographed the previous day. I adjust the composition, field in the foreground, mountains behind, so as to establish homogeneous viewing conditions.

The wild cloudy remains of the afternoon storm spangle the sky. The sun is low, its shafting rays, more and more horizontal, pierce the clouds here and there to spotlight this or that detail of the mountain. Now and then - I await the moment with impatience - the field before me lights up brilliantly.
